The Search for Our Next Rector

Almighty God, we pray for the guidance of your Holy Spirit as we seek a new rector for our church.  You know our special needs and the task that lies before us.  Direct our search committee and us in our discernment and give us insight to perceive the leader you would choose for us.  And we further pray, O Lord, that in this time of transition we may all devote ourselves anew to your purpose, so that nothing is lost of the faithful work of the past, but rather that it may be brought to a rich harvest now and in the years to come.  This we ask in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Discernment Update (September 28, 2024)

​Hello Parishioners and Website Guests. Prince of Peace's Discernment Committee wants to provide another update on our progress. Since the “reboot” of our Search Process, the Discernment Committee has some updates to share. First, two members of the committee have stepped down, Steve Mitchell and Dave Cohill. Steve and Dave both contributed their time, input and energy and we are grateful for their contributions. We have two equally talented and focused parish members stepping up to serve on the committee, Kay Hoke and Andrew Boyd. We are looking forward to restarting our work with these new members.  

Speaking of work, the committee has met twice since restarting our search work. On August 18th the committee met with Diocese of Central Pennsylvania's Interim Transition Minister, Rev. Kevin Barron. The meeting consisted of reviewing our previous work, information about the current trends in the candidate pool and focusing our work on updating the Parish Profile. It was a good conversation and reassuring that we are moving in the right direction. The committee met again after the church picnic on September 8th. As a result of that meeting Larry Dormer, Kay Hoke, Abby Finafrock and Sandra Kiser took on the task of updating the profile. The Parish OTM required some updates as well so Carolyn Fouts, Charles Saltzman, Duane Botterbush and Andrew Boyd have completed that. Both documents are with diocesan leadership for review, awaiting any suggestions or edits to eventually be posted nationally advertising our search.

Commissioning The Discernment Committee

On the First Sunday in Advent, 2023, The Memorial Church of the Prince of Peace commissioned our Discernment Committee at the 10:15 worship service. The members of the comittee are Duane Botterbusch, Dave Cohill, Larry Dormer, Abby Finafrock, Carolyn Fouts, Sandra Keyser, Steve Mitchell, Charles Saltzman, and Jim Van Dyke. Jim and Steve are also members of the Vestry.  The search for a new rector is in progress, and we are in the process of updating the parish profile.  We have an extremely strong group on this committee, and we are a supportive and faithful parish family that will help us stand out and call a new rector to be our shepherd as we move forward faithfully.
